It was a great day on the water. Captain Tasha and her crew took the Condor Express to a hotspot located 8 miles north of the western end of Santa Cruz Island. Although skies had a thin stratus layer, seas were calm and conditions were good for finding wildlife. Tasha reports seeing 4 humpback whales and 2500 long-beaked common dolphins.
The whales were busy feeding and were mixed in with hundreds of dolphins. There were 6 or 8 whales in the vicinity. We took the time to closely watch 4. Some of the whales were very friendly, swam under the boat and down each side. The water was clear and these sightings were tremendous.
The hotspot was full of dolphins (as previously mentioned), loads of sea lions and a lot of sea birds too.
