Blue whale and humpback whales

Blue whale and humpback whales

We had a nice pod of common dolphins on the way out to the southeastern feeding grounds today, and another pod on the way home.  In all, at least 600 common dolphins were observed and the humans went wild enjoying the antics of these friendly cetaceans.  Out on the grounds where the big boys play we watched 5 humpback whales today and 1 giant blue whale.  The humpbacks were originally in two groups, a threesome and a pair.  The 5 joined forces and spent some time close to the Condor Express so, again, the looks were very good.  As a side note, the blue whale was very long but skinny…similar to the one I photographed on Saturday.  Hopefully all the krill in the area will fatten up this whale soon.  Conditions were very good with a some low but thin overcast and very calm seas.  It was a great day with #bluewhales   #humpbacks and #dolphins GALORE!
