2015 05-10 SB Coast
Today was the official end to our annual Coastal Gray Whale season. This week we resume “Island Whale Watch” trips out to see the other species of cetaceans and marine life out near the Channel Islands. I love gray whales, especially the calves, but it is time to move on, the great seasonal cycle…wishing the gray whales well until we meet again at the end of the year.
Captain Eric ran two excursions today on a nice, sunny, but a wee tad breezy day along the Santa Barbara Coast.
12 noon. 4 gray whales (2 mothers with calves) northbound along the kelp forests 250 long-beaked common dolphins
3 pm. 4 more gray whales (same as noon but the whales were different individuals)
That’s all the information I have for today….
