A gray whale mom and calf, 50 Risso’s and a Minke.

2019 04-27 SB Channel

The ocean was calm and flat and glassy all day long. Sightings included two gray whales, 50 Risso’s dolphins, and one Minke whale. As captain Dave took the Condor Express out to the west he found a mother gray whale with her calf around the lighthouse area. We got great looks and followed it all the way up to Goleta Bay. Moving offshore we located a large pod of Risso’s dolphins. They’re big and they are very unique to watch! Later a single Minke whale was watched. You never know what Mother Nature has in store.
