Humpback whales with super Fall conditions

Oh, my.  Friday, September 16, 2016 – Another great trip with super dooper Fall weather and sea conditions.  Sunny, warm, calm seas and lots of mammals to enjoy.  Totals for the day included 5 humpback whales and 3,500 long-beaked common dolphins.

Like yesterday, the dolphins started coming around in groups of 100 or more when we were about 5 miles south of UCSB.  From that point, there was never a time when we did not have dolphins around us.  All of this with drop-dead clear Santa Barbara Channel cobalt water.  Wow.

A bit further south, among the dolphins, the first humpback whale came around and great looks were had by all.  On the northern edge of The Lanes and then north of West Point, Santa Cruz Island, two additional pairs of humpback whales made their appearance.

It doesn’t get much nicer than this.
