Nice assembly of whales and dolphins.

Image: humpback whales and common dolphins.

2023 6-14 SB Channel

A high, thin stratus layer hung around all day. Seas were calm, as were the winds. We closely watched 2500 long-beaked common dolphins and 4 humpback whales.

Although we slowed down for a scant few dolphins on the way out, most of the animal sightings took place southwest of The Buoy. Small groups of dolphins were all around the zone, and their size increased as morning transitioned to afternoon. Four adult whales were mixed in and feeding sub-surface with the dolphins. A few nice tail flukes were seen.

You never know what mother nature has in store.
