2018 10-07 SB Channel
Today brought us close looks at 3 humpback whales and 200 long-beaked common dolphins. It was a sunny day with a little bump on the water from the western Santa Barbara Channel. Captain Tasha and her crew kept the search pattern mostly in the northern half of the Channel.
Dolphins located the Condor Express when it was about 5 miles offshore and a great interaction session ensued with good looks being had by both species of mammal (dolphin and human). A fleeting glimpse of a quickly moving whale also occurred. Tasha headed west.
A bit further up the line a pair of whales was located. It was a mother and her calf moving together to the west. Again, it was a nice encounter….always a treat to see the little ones.
Tasha doubled back and searched for the original, elusive whale and found it. This time it made a very close approach and surfaced quite close to the bow of the Condor. This was a great surprise to all.
