Friends of the Channel, It was a sparkling clear day on the Channel again today. The sun was bright and the ocean was mirror glass.
And this is what the Condor Expressly saw: 1 Humpback Whale 800 Common Dolphins (in two large groups) 50 California Sea Lions Not only did we follow a friendly Humpback Whale right off the Harbor entrance, but our friends and colleagues from CIMWI (Channel Islands Marine & Wildlife Institute) in Gaviota came along and helped TMMC (The Marine Mammal Center) in Sausalito release 4 special passengers back into the wild: 1 Guadalupe Fur Seal, 1 Northern Fur Seal, and 2 California Sea Lions. Now getting back to the Humpback Whale, Captain Dave spotted the spout just outside the moorings at East Beach. We trailed it west southwest until we left it off Hendry's and headed due south to Santa Cruz Island. This whale was no more than a half mile off the beach. Wow.
Remember, we are the only full time whale watching boat on the Channel these days and we run trips W, Th, F, Sa and Sun. You never know on a day to day basis what mother nature has in store. But it is always an amazing day full of sea creatures and adventures on the high seas when the Condor Express leaves the dock every day at 10am regularly. Sign up now and tell your friends. There should be plenty of spots available for tomorrow, but the only way to guarantee you'll have a ticket to board is to make a reservation if you have time, SO call 1-888-77WHALE or 805-882-0088 to get your name on the list. Photographs from today's adventure, and most other holidays and weekends will be available online at www.CondorExpressPhotos.com Best fishes and have a WHALE of a day ! Bob Perry Condor Express
