6 humpbacks, lots of Risso’s and thousands of common dolphins.

2018 08-21 SB Channel

Captain Dave and the crew of the Condor Express found a lot of wildlife today including great looks at 6 humpback whales, 40 Risso’s dolphins and 2500 long-beaked common dolphins.  The common dolphins and whales were together again, as we’ve seen most of this week.  Great to see Risso’s too.

The Risso’s dolphins found the Condor near the mid-Channel NOAA buoy and, with the clear water, we had wonderful looks.  Groups of common dolphins also arrived at this sighting and we watched for a while in awe.

Near The Lanes two individual whale sightings took place.  One large whale and one smaller whale were seen here, separately.  The small whale is one we’ve been watching lately; it has white pectorals and a white tail, plus is very boat friendly.

A mile or so away 3 more whale were located and they were surrounded by loads of common dolphins.  If that was not enough, as we tried to break free and head home, yet another whale found us to finish off the day in great style.
