A little light rain and great sightings

2019 02-15 SB Channel

There was intermittent light rain throughout the Santa Barbara Channel but this did not stop the Condor Express from finding wildlife. Sea conditions were quite acceptable (if you didn’t mind a little bit of rain, and hey, the whales were already wet!). Sighting for the day included 2,000 long-beaked common dolphins and 2 humpback whales.

The first large herd of dolphins found the boat in the mid-Channel region on our trip across to Santa Cruz Island. The interaction was fantastic as always. Soon after the dolphins, we located one nice humpback whale and got great looks.

At the Island, Dave did his usual fantastic monologue regarding the history and natural resources of this unique location. This was followed by a visit to the world-famous Painted Cave. The recent rains really fired-up that wonderful waterfall at the mouth of the cave!

On the way home, there was another large herd of dolphins and another single whale with great sightings all the way around.
