A single trip yields 2 gray whales and 25 bottlenose dolphins.

2019 02-15 SB Coast

Captain Dave and the crew of the Condor Express found excellent weather and sea conditions in the northern/coastal Santa Barbara Channel today. Seas were winds were calm. It was a cool, crisp and clear winter day. One trip left the docks at 12noon. Sightings today included 25 coastal bottlenose dolphins and 2 gray whales.

The first gray whale was encountered about 2 miles south of Santa Barbara Harbor and the second whale was further offshore. Both were excellent cooperative whales with regular fluking-up and great looks were had by all.

On the hunt for additional species we traveled east to the nearshore waters of Summerland where a very large herd of bottlenose dolphins was found chasing food in shallow water.
