Captain Eric and the crew of the Condor Express found excellent sea conditions and spent the trip in an area southeast of Santa Barbara called The Flats. Cetaceans observed today included: 5+ humpback whales, 1 Minke whale and 2000 long-beaked common dolphins.
Things got off to a great start with a mega pod of at least 2,000 dolphins south of Santa Barbara Harbor near Platform Habitat. Nice looks were had and a lot of quality time was spent watching these active cetaceans in the clear water. A couple of humpback whales and a lone Minke whale were also watched in this area.
Eric moved the Condor Express closer to shore and the northern regions of The Flats. A single humpback whale was found logging on the surface which enabled great views. A pair of humpback whales located the boat and spent a lot of time passing under our hulls and moving up and down the sides so everyone could take great photos. It was spectacular.
