2 humpback whales and the little one gets friendly

Drop dead gorgeous conditions in the Santa Barbara Channel made it fun and easy to find spouts of all sizes today.   Among the 2 humpback whales, we watched Top Notch and another, smaller whale.  The small one got very friendly and played around with the Condor Express and passed underneath several times in the crystal clear water.  The humpback whale fan club on deck was thrilled and the camera shutters were clicking like a locust swarm on a hot summer night in Nebraska.  Common dolphins were around the northeastern Channel all day, as has been their custom, Captain Dave’s #dolphin rough estimate was 1,000 or more.  At least 2 Minke #whales were also on patrol across the zone and good looks were had by all.  The trip was topped off by a tour along the north face of our largest Channel Island, Santa Cruz.  August has been very very good and we hope to see you on board this week.
