Captain Tasha and the crew found ideal conditions in the Santa Barbara channel today. Skies were lightly overcast but visibility was so good one could see all four channel islands lined up in a row. Seas were calm and glassy. Settings for the day included seven gray whales with more in the area. A single trip left the dock today.
The first two whales were located off Hope Ranch close to the beach. These whales showed their flukes regularly and made a couple of close passes near our bow.
After some good time spent with this pair, Tasha move the boat out to deeper water. Here she found two more whales that were soon joined by another three to make a nice five whale pod.
You never know what Mother Nature has in store.
