A breaching humpback and a great gray whale too

2019 03-05 SB Coast

The Condor Express located 1 gray whale and 1 humpback whale during a single trip that left the docks at 12 noon.  Seas and winds were generally calm, but it rained off and on.  Luckily the Condor Express was designed with a massive first floor cabin that has panoramic windows for anyone who forgot to bring a raincoat.

Just outside Santa Barbara harbor we encountered a juvenile gray whale on its northbound migration and followed it up the coast towards UCSB. Captain Dave and the crew then took the boat out to deeper water and came across a large, adult humpback whale. The humpback breached repeatedly and put on quite a show.
