Captain Eddy and the crew ran directly S and ended up near Prisoners Harbor on beautiful Santa Cruz Island. Skies were sunny and nice. A little bit of W bump from overnight winds was interacting with some SE chop from nearby Santa Ana’s which made the ride a little bit lumpy. Total sightings for the trip: 1 gray whale.

As we moved E past prisoners and through Chinese Harbor,  we encountered 1 adult gray whale. (see today’s photograph for an example). The beast was moving south as most of them do this time of year, but it was a bit hard to tell because it one doubled back and deviated to the left and right. Don’t let anybody tell you that the migration is a straight line! We all had good looks as the beast surfaced near the boat on one occasion.

You never know what mother nature has in store.
