A single gray whale in dense fog

Captain Eddy and the crew ran a single trip that left the docks at noon. Seas were a bit bumpy and Eddy reported dense, zero visibilty fog for most of the excursion. Sightings included: 1 gray whale.

After navigating up the coast (west) slowly in the fog, skies cleared near Campus Point. Before long we spotted and followed a single adult gray whale on its northbound migration. The water was clear enough to see and track the whale underwater during its brief dives. We stay with it and had great looks for about 10 minutes.

Then it was homeward bound and back into the fog.

You never know what Mother Nature has in store.
