California gray whales – A quartet of northbound Gray Whales…

California gray whales

Gray Whale Tail

We ran two trips today, and encountered a breeding pod of 4 gray whales heading home to Alaska on both trips. The first trip was enhanced by the especially calm, glassy seas and balmy temperatures. The afternoon adventure featured an on-coming spectacular, thick, fog bank and a light breeze. We could see the wall of fog heading our way for over an hour. We were enveloped by the fog for about 10 minutes, and we came out the other side refreshed.

The whales were spectacular, often all 4 were on the surface at the same time and there were many tail flukes shown. I’ll post the photos to www.CondorExpressPhotos.com no later than Wednesday. Bob Perry
