Friends of Santa Barbara Channel Whales,
Here are the species we watched closely today:
1 giant Blue Whale (2 more in the area)
4 Dall's Porpoise
100 long-beaked Common Dolphins
1 Humpback Whale (fleeting glimpse only)
2 Risso's Dolphins (seen only by crew for a few seconds)
sea lions everywhere
The San Miguel Island region wildlife expedition brought us great looks at a giant Blue Whale. To witness this beast plowing into the big swells with the fresh breeze blowing the waves and spouts was exhilarating. I'll have these photos online no later than tomorrow.
