Friends and associates,
The prevailing winds were much calmer today and the sea conditions were correspondingly nicer. We ran south to the same area where we had that magical Blue Whale encounter yesteday, hoping the big beast was still in the area. Not to be believed, it seemed like a sizeable number of the whales in the Channel had come in and joined forces. Another epic species diversity day !
Final counts:
1000 common dolphins
10 Dall's porpoise
10 Risso's dolphins
9 Blue Whales
8 Humpback Whales
Both the Blues and Humpbacks showed us plenty of tail flukes today, and in the mix we spotted a mother Humpback with her calf. The pair approached the boat and came up close to greet the happy Condor Express guests. It was magical.
