Giant blue whales, humpback whales and dolphins too

2018 05-25 SB Channel

The wind came up on our way home, but for the most part sea conditions and weather were great for finding wildlife.  Captain Tasha and her crew closely watched 2 humpback whales, 2 giant blue whales and 500 long-beaked common dolphins.

The Condor Express had crossed into the commercial shipping lanes before finding a mother humpback whale and her calf. The little calf did a couple of half-body breaches to amaze the whale fans on board.  Our next stop was near Chinese Harbor on Santa Cruz Island where 2 giant blue whales were watched.  They spent a lot of time on the surface and one of them was a great fluker.

On our way home, and not more than 4 miles from Santa Barbara Harbor, a large herd of dolphins located the boat and kept us company for quite a while.  Great looks were had by all.
