Humpback whales breaching and more

2016 02-23 SB Channel

Captain Dave and his crew took the Condor Express into The Triangle today and had great looks at 5 humpback whales alongside at least 300 long-beaked common dolphins. There was great weather and sea conditions during the trip and here are some highlights:

12noon The first humpback we located had long down times so after some good looks, Dave moved over to a area where there was a breach or two in the distance. Here we watched 3 more humpback whales which had shorter down times and even came close to the boat at one point for a friendly approach.

A solo humpback whale (the fifth of the trip) was seen breaching too…again it was a little ways away when it telegraphed its location and enabled us to navigate there and enjoy watching.

It was a warm and sunny day, and tomorrow is expected to be similar. Hope to see you on board before the fabled El Niño shows up.

You never know what Mother Nature has in store. Bob Perry Condor Express
