Humpback whales, Minke whales still great sightings !

Five humpback whales were closely watched today on our trip out to the northeastern Channel. One was a mother with her calf, and we’ve seen this pair not too long ago. The youngster is characterized by a split dorsal fin. Also in the mix was the whale with deep prop scars across the back. Another one of the whales seemed to need some rest as it was observed for over 30 minutes remaining motionless and “logging” on the surface. Also on the feeding grounds today were 4 Minke whales with many more in the area, and about 600 long beaked common dolphins.

We had good weather today, but the forecast is even better for tomorrow morning’s trip. Remember: No trip sunday and our trip tomorrow leave early…8am. Hope to see you on bored.
