Humpbacks Put on a Show

Humpbacks Put on a Show

Captain Dave ran east of the rigs and closely watched 8 humpback whales with more in the area.  It was a nice day for the first half of the trip, then the winds from the trailing edge of last nights rain storm came through the Santa Barbara Channel.  Among the antics today we got great looks at several breaches, some near, some far.  A cow-calf pair approached the boat and played alongside, the calf rolled around, and everyone on board was mesmerized.  A few tail throws by other #whales were also observed.  While being an outstanding day for humpback whales, the common dolphins were elsewhere in the Channel, and we only saw a couple of dozen.
