There was a little bit of an uncomfortable bump from the W today. Otherwise, skies were clear and sunny and there was no wind until late in the trip. Most of the action took place just N of the buoy. Totals for the day included: 19 humpback whales (we closely watched 6), 5000 common dolphins and 100 California sea lions.

The action came fast and furious today when we were only 2 miles off of Ledbetter Beach. There were several large active birdnados, along with 2000 dolphins and 2 individual humpback whales. The whales were initially separated by a little less than a mile but they came together and did some vertical lunge feeding close to the Condor Express. They also mugged us for quite a while. What an awesome start to our adventure.

Out near the buoy hotspot, there were an additional 17 humpbacks. The whales, along with several thousand additional dolphins, were slowly traveling to the east and passed by the boat closely to look at their fans a few times.

You never know what mother nature has in store.
