Nautical conditions prevailed. Another record-breaking dolphin day. Four nice humpbacks, too.

2025 09–13 SB Channel
Strong winds offshore blew all night. Consequently, we experienced a strong, steep, W bump throughout the day. A high overcast layer persisted until 1 o’clock, with only a slight breeze. Sightings for the day: 10,000 common dolphins and 4 humpback whales.
It was another record-breaking day for common dolphins that are region of the channel. We ran into megapods when we were just 6 miles offshore, then things heated up for the rest of the trip. Dolphins were active on the surface and very friendly to the Condor Express. They rode our bow, side, and stern waves. Only one or two small birdnados were seen today.
We were watching dolphins W of the buoy when 2 tall spouts nearby led us to a pair of adult humpback whales. Like all the whales today, they were busy feeding sub-surface and popped back up at random locations. One of the whales took us by surprise with a single monster breach very close to the boat. (See today’s photo for an example).
On the way home, more dolphins.
You never know what mother nature has in store.
