Our humpback friend “Rope” is back !

Our humpback friend “Rope” is back !

Among 7 or so humpback whales watched closely on our 12 noon trip today was our old pal “Rope.”  According to Captain Eric, she is looking large and she continues to be friendly.  She came over to the Condor Express a few times today in between dining sessions on the abundant northern anchovy bait balls.   She was not alone in putting on a great show for the whale watchers today.  Other whales slapped their pectoral fins and another one, a smaller whale, breached several times.  There was surface lunge feeding all around the zone today and the big cetaceans were joined by lots of long beaked common dolphins….750 or so in our immediate vicinity and at least 1,000 more outside of our position.  It was a sunny day with calm seas and perfect for great coastal whale watching.

Tomorrow we have trips at 9am and 3pm open to the public.

You never know what Mother Nature has in store! Best regards Bob Perry Condor Express
