Santa Barbara Whale Watching: outstanding again!

curtis35188

Friends and Colleagues,

Here are the species we watched closely today:

1 giant Blue Whale

200 long-beaked Common Dolphins

7 Humpback Whales

An outstanding day weathewise out on the grounds.  The seas were fairly calm and the sky had a high, thin overcast. The big Humpback Whales and giant Blue Whales are beginning to disperse up and down along their traditional feeding area in the Santa Barbara Channel, and we know where they are !  Today featured some great looks at friendly Humpbacks and also a Blue that surfaced right next to the Condor Express, to the delight of everyone.  Captain Dave even penetrated the famous Painted Cave on Santa Cruz Island today.  Wow.  This is the finest California Whale Watching we've had in years.

In addition to the expert crew on the Condor Express with over 35 years of experience, Channel Islands Naturalist Corps volunteer naturalists, representatives from the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary and National Park, are usually on board and available to answer your questions during the trip.

Best fishes, have a WHALE of a day and OCEANS of fun!
