Captain Tasha and the crew of the Condor Express ran two trips today. One left the dock at noon, the other at 3 o’clock. Total sightings for the day included 10+ gray whales. Skies were overcast most of the day, but seas were glassy and calm.
On the noon trip there were three pairs of whales that were all very cooperative. In fact all the whales today were not only easy to watch but were frequent tail flukers that had very short downtimes. The first whales were found just a mile outside the harbor. The next batch was located off More Mesa.
The afternoon trip ran out about 3 miles offshore and found a quad pod… 4 whales traveling in tight formation for the whole sighting. We found them at More Mesa also and had fantastic looks. To be fair, there were lots more spouts all around the area today but we report only the ones we watched closely.
You never know what Mother Nature has in store.
