Report for Monday, April 16:
12 noon trip:
6 Gray Whales (3 cow-calf pairs)
15 Inshore Bottlenose Dolphins
Again, the ocean stayed very calm, very little to no wind, with bright sun all day. The parade of babies continues. But today the nearshore green water from the weekend rain has cleared out to a crystal clear blue. The whales could be seen deep in the kelp forest. The calves spy-hopped, climbed on top of mom's back, and generally did what little calves do on a beautiful day. At one point the dolphins were in the mix, interacting with the whales.
Fantastic day. Fantastic sightings.
