Captain Eddy and the crew experienced great sea conditions again today. The breeze was light and variable and seas were calm. Sightings included 4+ humpback whales and 4000 common dolphins.
Half way between The Mesa and The Buoy we crossed paths with our first of two common dolphin megapods. We watched at least 2000 individuals spread out over a wide area. A pair of adult humpback whales were also watched in this area. One of them had long surface times and came close to the Condor Express for some nice looks.
After a search that took us across The Lanes and back again east of our original path, we located a second 2000-strong megapod…and, you guessed it…another pair of whales. There were additional spouts that time did not permit slowing for.
You never know what Mother Nature has in store.
