Nature Lovers,
Another spectacular partly sunny day with calm seas on the Channel and here is what we watched closely today:
8 Blue Whales (many more spouts in the area – same cow & calf as Wednesday) 4 Humpback Whale (more all around – a nice friendly approach) 2,400 Common Dolphins
We are in the summer peak season now. Unbelievable. The Humpbacks came close to the boat (as they often do), and the giant Blues were observed “racing,” which is infrequently seen and may have to do with some kind of mating ritual…no matter, it is amazing to see the largest animal that ever lived on the planet carrying on before your very eyes.
We have had quite a few days with dense populations on the grounds. Who knows what the future may bring. Suggestion: sign up now and get in on all the action while it lasts. The Audubon Society has a deep water pelagic bird trip tomorrow (Saturday) and then Sunday we're back on teh regular whaling schedule.
