California Humpback Whales and Calf Spotted in Santa Barbara Channel

California Humpback Whales

Friday, September 21, 2012 Trip Sightings Report:

We ran east again and found four California Humpback Whales.  It was “Rope” and friend, plus a cow-calf pair.  The little calf got excited and was tail throwing and entertaining the Condor Express people.  Perhaps the highlight was not in the water but in the sky, as the space shuttle flew low and directly over head on the back of a 747 on its way to its new home in Los Angeles.  Wow!

Here are the species we saw today: Four California Humpback Whales 600 Common Dolphins 1 Space Shuttle
