Captain Dave and the crew ran a single, 12 noon excursion. Skies were sunny, there was no wind, and seas were mostly calm. Sightings for the trip included 5 humpback whales with more in the area.
After a nice oil rig tour during which Dave talked about the history and the mechanisms behind offshore oil and gas drilling in The Channel, we continued a few miles southwest and ultimately found a pair of adult humpback whales. When we got on the scene, it turns out that one of the adult whales was our old friend, Scarlet. (For more Scarlet information and photographs , please go to: https://www.condorexpressphotos.com/Scarlet). As often happens with Scarlet, she came over and promptly mugged the Condor Express. It is lways good to see our old friend up close and personal.
A third humpback whale, another adult, came into the area and joined Scarlet and her friend.
We moved east along the edge of The Farm and located 2 additional, individual whales. They also mugged the Condor Express!
Footnote: for the past several days our area of the channel has been festooned with floating Velella, small Cnidarians. ( https://www.marinebiophotography.com/Cnidarians/By-The-Wind-Sailor-jellies )
